A Special Dress for a Special Girl

A sweet friend of mine is expecting a baby girl in December and I had the honor of attending her baby shower Saturday. I thought, what girl doesn't need her own handmade couture dress? Using a ribbon embroidered lace and lavender velvet I created a dress fit for a princess :)

Can't wait to meet you baby LaRue!

The Unveiled Bridal Event!

It has been quite a weekend! I participated in my second bridal show yesterday and met some wonderful brides and vendors.  I will touch on some of them later ;) Until then, I will share some pictures of my booth, where you can see how I used some of my flea market finds!

I purchased the easel at an art store and spray painted it gold to create a cohesive color story with the rest of my products.

The wire picture holder worked perfectly as my bobby pin display!

I use the old suitcase as a prop on the table, but the best part is I actually use it to bring and store all of my accessories.

Remember the old plant stand?

The giveaway is a useful tool to get brides to the table and create conversation about my product.  Then, I can also follow up after the show because I have their email!

The trays were a great way to display some of the hair combs and boutonnieres.

The two old planter shelves gave height and more space on the table.

All in all, I the show was a great success and I look forward to the brides and vendors I get to work with in the future!

Favorite Flea Market Finds

A couple weeks ago my Mom and Mimi came to visit me here in California and we got to visit the Alameda Flea Market. The Alameda Point Antiques Faire is the largest antiques show in Northern California. Held on the 1st Sunday of every month, the Faire boasts over 800 dealer booths.  All items are 20 years old or older.  The ultimate place to shop for vintage and antique home decorations, clothing, furniture, jewelry, art, pottery, books & collectibles.
We were on a mission to find some great pieces to display my products at bridal shows and craft fairs.  And along the way, we found that and more!  Here are some of the goodies we bought :)

This was a small plant stand that I am going to use to highlight new and special hair accessories.

Some of my favorite finds - old vintage pieces of jewelry to use in bouquets and centers of flowers.

An old picture/card holder...

It is just what I needed to put all of my bobby pin cards on!

Antique jewelry box - a perfect fit for a flower hair comb!

And this has nothing to do with my business...but for $1,
I just couldn't leave him behind.

I mean an owl made up of compasses, @Jessica Barley, I know you appreciate this!

My First Bridal Show!

Well, I have warned you how bad I am at blogging, but I am putting my best foot forward.  I just had a great week spent with my Mom and Mimi.  They flew out here to California and stayed with Tyler and I for a whole week! We had a blast visiting antique stores, swap meets, and the best flea market on the west coast! (Pictures of our favorite finds will be up soon.)  While uploading some photos of new products I am working on, I realized I haven't even shared pictures of my first bridal show!  I downloaded the few taken by the hired photographer - but forgot all about my own...whoops.  Take a peek...

Excited to be a vendor at the Unveiled - Bridal Style Revealed event!

A Custom Hair Accessory!

Oh what fun! I have had the wonderful opportunity to re-connect with an old friend and create a beautiful custom hair piece!  I recently was contacted by a friend from high school who asked me to produce something special for his girlfriend. They are
going to a wedding in London and instead of wearing a hat, she thought
it would be fun to wear a big flower in her hair :)
Enough, talking - here are the results (please disregard the unprofessional photos!)

I used white ostrich feathers to help soften the overall feel of the flower.

From tip to tip, the flower measured approximately 5 inches across.

A Preview for What's to Come!

Hello!
So, obviously I have slacked off on this whole blogging thing, but I have been hard at work! Here is a preview of what I have been working on.  I collaborated with a fabulous local photographer to capture my new hair accessories! Check out her website and blog at Adriana Klas Photography. My etsy shop is also underway right now,  but should be up and running within the next week or two.
